Hug Life is Fragile.

This project

Lost a few people in 2021. Struggled a lot with loss in general, different types of cancers and watching people deteriorate in front of you is one of the hardest things to have to endure. I was in that much shock when I found out they died. In disbelief went looking for them in their usual spot calling out their name, it was rough however it did inspire this project.
So I wanted to use the colour pallet from Where's Wally of the blue and red. Bit of my dark humour to deal with tougher situations. It keeps the illustration simple and easy to read. Using negative space to try to convey the emotion and emptiness, you're never going to be able to physically interact with them again. Just the embrace and taking in the hug. My underlying message is that "Life is Fragile, Hug people whilst you can" Think we can get so wrapped up in our bubble of life, a lot of things are really trivial and how much time we have is an unknown.

Sticking posters up in shoreditch

Pasted posters of 'Life is Fragile' around Shoreditch. To first paste posters for the first time and secondly see what it would be like to leave something physically behind.

I got a wide range of reactions in person as l was pasting as well as being tagged over Instagram. In-person, I spoke with a photographer who admired the fact it wasn't something just posted online. Then two drunk women were having a rough day with a loved one in the hospital and wanted a hug after seeing the poster; I didn't expect anyone to acknowledge them let alone want to interact with them. Online I had a person say "Just don't hug when you're sweaty" which was more humorous and a couple of tour guide people say they spotted them whilst they were giving guides of the local graffiti.
